Hi, I’m Adrianne Campbell.

As a psychotherapist, I bring a unique blend of professional expertise and lived experience to my practice. My personal experiences with mental health, including dealing with caregiver burnout, trauma, anxiety, grief, and religious disconnection, inform my therapeutic approach. I’ve been on the receiving end of therapy and know firsthand the powerful difference it can make in someone’s life. Therapy gave me a chance to heal, and it’s what inspires me to offer that same opportunity to others.

Outside of my work, I’m passionate about yoga, reading, and food. I believe in balance and taking care of the mind and body, so I prioritize activities that nurture both. Whether it’s unwinding with a good book, practicing yoga, or enjoying delicious thai food, I know the value of slowing down and appreciating the small joys in life.

I hold a master's degree in counselling psychology from the University of British Columbia.

I’ve worked with individuals across a wide range of struggles including anxiety, grief, substance use, trauma, relationship difficulties, and sexual concerns. Having had the privilege of supporting teens, adults, couples, and facilitating group therapy, I have developed a deep understanding of human complexity and the different ways we experience life. Additionally,  I'm neurodivergent myself, which allows me to bring an empathetic, personalized approach to working with others who may feel like they don’t quite fit the mold.

Currently, I work with teens (16+), adults, couples, and facilitate group therapy in the community. If you’re looking for a compassionate therapist who understands the challenges of life and genuinely cares about your healing journey, I’d be honored to work with you.

All races, religions, sexual orientations, and genders are welcome.

  • Rogerian (Person-Centered): I create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and respected, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

  • Mindfulness: Incorporating mindfulness techniques helps clients develop a greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in the present moment, creating space for change and healing.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): This modality helps clients explore their internal world and the different "parts" of themselves that may be in conflict, offering a path to integration and self-acceptance.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: By exploring past experiences and unconscious patterns, I help clients understand how their history influences their present relationships, behaviors, and feelings.

  • Attachment-Focused Treatment: Attachment theory is at the heart of much of my work. I believe that our early relationships shape how we connect with others, and healing from attachment wounds can significantly improve emotional regulation, interpersonal dynamics, and self-worth.

I offer a holistic and empathetic approach that honors both the complexity of your experiences and the strength you bring to therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find an answer to your question, please reach us at office@quietwavepsychotherapy.com

Quiet Wave Psychotherapy is located in the Clayton Heights area of Surrey, BC, Canada. We offer in-person therapy to clients in the lower mainland area and virtual therapy to clients anywhere in BC.

Quiet Wave Psychotherapy does not discriminate against anyone based on religion, gender, culture, sexual preference, etc. Everyone is worthy of care, support, and happiness.

Currently, we are offering services to adult clients and adolescents (16 yrs+).

In some cases, an individual may be referred to another therapist or resource. This may be the case if the client's primary concerns are outside the therapist's scope. Additionally, therapy is most effective when trust and rapport are present between client and therapist. In situations where there is a disconnect between the client and the therapist, it might be beneficial to discuss a referral to another therapist.

While many people use the terms interchangeably, some differentiate between the two. Counselling may refer to working through a specific issue (e.g., grief) or making a decision (e.g., career) and is generally considered shorter-term. While therapy may also include support for specific issues or decision-making, it is often considered longer-term and may explore a broader view of an individual's life, history, or patterns.

Until recently, the most common designations used in British Columbia were Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). However, in mid-2024, the term 'psychotherapy' became legally protected in Canada. As the profession becomes regulated, the publicly recognized term may shift from counselling to psychotherapy.

PROS: Therapy can be highly effective. Research shows that the majority of people can significantly benefit from therapy. Therapy can be helpful for individual issues, relational issues, grief and loss, neurodivergence, and more. Even physical and chronic pain can be greatly improved by attending psychotherapy.

CONS: Therapy isn't easy; it requires time, effort and a degree of vulnerability. Additionally, therapy can bring up uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.

The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. In some situations, clients are advised to attend therapy once a week to start, and reduce frequency as their situation improves.  We will work together to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Psychotherapy is generally considered a slower process that provides lifelong results. Some people may seek therapy for weeks, while others may seek therapy for years, or even decades. The duration of therapy will greatly depend on an individual's goals, resources, history, and current situation.

Some researchers have suggested that it takes around 10 sessions to begin the process of change and more than 20 sessions to see lasting change.

In your first couple therapy sessions, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment. We will also talk about your medical history, your background, and any current symptoms you may be experiencing.

Online sessions may provide additional convenience; however, some details should be considered to ensure you have the best virtual therapy experience.

1) Prepare your space. Ensure that you are in a quiet, private space where you feel safe speaking openly. Please, ensure that you are appropriately clothed. Optionally, gather tissues, water, a cozy blanket, or whatever you need to feel comfortable.

2) Prepare your technology. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection and a power sources. Additionally, have your phone nearby to connect with your therapist if technological difficulties arise.

3) Ensure safety. If you are in a location other than your home or the address on file, relay your location to your therapist. Importantly, if having a virtual session puts you at risk in any way, do not continue with the scheduled session and contact your therapist to make other arrangements.

Individuals in an intimate partnership face many complexities, especially during times of high stress or change. In any case, a psychotherapist can support couples by aiding productive communication while working towards their relationship goals. In many cases, the goal is to build or regain a healthy and fulfilling relationship. However, couples may also seek help to navigate an open relationship, disclose something uncomfortable, or to end the relationship.

Confidentiality at Quiet Wave Psychotherapy is of the utmost importance. During your first session, your therapist will go over the details of confidentiality with you, including the few circumstances in which confidentiality may be broken.

Further, to protect your confidentiality, your therapist will not acknowledge you in public or engage with you via personal social media accounts.

Finally, your electronic information is double password protected, stored on Canadian servers, and only accessed through secured networks.

Quiet Wave Psychotherapy charges rates in accordance with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellor (BCACC) fee guide.

Yes. We understand that therapy can be expensive for those without extended health benefits. If you cannot afford the regular rate, please get in touch with us to see if you qualify for reduced rate options.

We are in the process of implementing direct billing. In the meantime, you should contact your insurance provider to ensure that your extended health benefits cover services offered by Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC).
